I was going to say something about this cold this morning, but it was only about 15° here, which means it was probably -10° in Chicago and Wisconsin. Anyway, I went out to my car and found a parking ticket under the wiper blade. I thought I'd gotten home late enough that it wouldn't have been illegal. Then I read it over and notice that it's not even for my car. I think it was on the car parked behind mine yesterday evening. That means that its owner was so incensed at receiving a ticket after being parked all day in a clearly-marked truck loading zone that he just left it on my car instead. WTF, man?
So, should I contact the city about it or just throw it away?

...Actually, I just did a bit of Googling. Baltimore City can be a nasty place for unpaid parking tickets, to the tune of several hundred dollars in additional fines, plus booting. So maybe I'll just let this go.

*waves as she wanders in from [livejournal.com profile] tidesong's journal*

It's a nice and balmy 28 (w/ windchill of 21) up here in MN :)

according to the weather channel it's:

23 w/ wc of 12 in Chicago
23 w/ wc of 10 in Madison

And that would be the current temp of the morning across the US.

My apologies that you're freezing this morning...apparently we're in for it this weekend *shiver* *blech*

Yeah, it's not as cold here in Chicago. And really, it's actually pretty warm in Chicago compared to some places in the Midwest; the lake really helps with that. Of course, it also makes more snow, so...

Sounds like the dude's gonna pay no matter what. If you contacted the city, they might reissue one to the dude's home address, which might convince him to pay the base fine. If you don't contact the city, though, the dude will assume he's not responsibile (because he's an idiot) and won't wake up until the city's sent him a larger fine.

This comment has no point..

Yeah, I probably should take the high road here and contact the city in some fashion. I'd hate to discover my car booted one morning because I'd unintentionally been the scofflaw.

24° and it's actually supposed to be close to 40° today. *blinks* Heat wave compared to the last week or so.

Funny that the recipient would stick the ticket on your car. Even funnier if they thought you'd think it was yours after examining it.

Devious to let it go, but I can't say I'd blame you.

Right, like he'd go ahead and cut a check without noticing? I don't know what the fine is, but damn I'd be at least paying attention enough to notice something like that.

What a douche!

It's $27, and I'm nice enough to send the ticket back to the city so they can forward it, but not nice enough to pay it for someone else. I knew it wasn't mine because the license plate and car make don't match mine.

But what a perfect user pic to match this story!

I do take pride in the matching...

I'd say contact the city. It's possible that he wasn't the one who moved the ticket to your car; it could have been some jokester who thought moving the ticket would be funny. Letting the city know so that they can (possibly) contact the original guy might be doing him a favor.

I was originally going to toss it, but the Skippy Brand Guilt Trip has convinced me I should contact the city. I'd hate to be the victim of some "jokester", then find out I owed hundreds of dollars.

See, that's a much better product than Skippy Peanut Butter. (Although, much more difficult to spread with a knife.)

When the clock radio came on this morning, they claimed it something like 6 degrees in Carlisle. Any colder and you'll find dogs frozen to fire hydrants. :D

You could always pass the buck & put it on someone else's car. But then again, you don't know if the guy wrote down your license so he knows who to shoot when he gets hauled into traffic court, so maybe not.
