About the weekend
Feb. 23rd, 2004 09:14 pmJust a quick update all about the weekend... Mom got here on Friday night and brought a brisket and some potatoes so we wouldn't have to worry about going out to dinner. Fortunately the Meyerhoff is only a few blocks away so leaving late isn't a big deal. Some parts of the concert were cool, like watching Bobby McFerrin do improv with the Morgan State choir. The improv with some of the string section of the BSO was almost awkward, but it's so much harder to play by ear when you're trained to play by reading. For the second half, they promised McFerrin's "own unique interpretation of Beethoven's Ninth," but I didn't hear very much to distinguish it from any recording I'd ever heard.
Saturday Mom & I decided to check out Lexington Market for lunch and The Walters, since they were having a free exhibition day for kids. We went to a nearby sushi place for dinner, because after eating this huge fish sandwich at lunch, we really didn't need a big dinner. It was disappointing that we never got together with LĂșthien, who seemed to be busy all day with work or whatever.
Yesterday a few friends and I trekked out to the Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air & Space Museum. You know, the big thing they just opened out at Dulles. It's really cool; they have a lot of planes stored there and a ton of room for more exhibits. Of course, dumbass me didn't bring a camera, so I'll just have to go back again some other time.
Oh, and I called the gas company about my extra-high bill. They said they'll send someone out in the next 2 weeks, for whatever that's worth. My dad's co-worker said he'd come out and check out the system for me on Wednesday, so we'll see how that goes.
