av8rmikeMom's coming to visit tomorrow night, because I was able to score tickets to Bobby McFerrin's appearance with the Baltimore Symphony. Actually, the tickets I was able to score were for Saturday night's performance, but I had forgotten that we (the afore-mentioned a cappella group) were scheduled to perform that night. So I got the box office to change the tickets. Then a few days ago Stacey informs me they're most likely going to cancel the show due to lack of interest, which, of course, they did. So now I have my Saturday night open. It should be fun having Mom here, but after The Apprentice is over, I have to go clean the bathroom.
(Geek warning) I was re-reading a few chapters of The Silmarillion over the last few days, and kept picturing people I know in some of the roles. Specifically, I pictured my med student friend as Lúthien Tinúviel, mostly from the physical description as one of the fairest Elves in the realm of Doriath. And, the way she heals Beren after they steal a Silmaril from Morgoth's crown. So, I know it's geeky, but I'll probably be referring to her in this journal as "Lúthien," rather than "med student."
The other reason it's on my mind is that her & I were supposed to go out some night this week for dinner, but with her late work schedule and all my activities, it's been hard to coordinate. The current plan now is to try for lunch Saturday with my mom. That should be interesting, but I think the two of them will really get along. I'll be sure to post more if anything interesting happens.
