I'm posting this now (and breaking my even longer streak of not posting on Sundays) because I know I have a bunch of things I have to get done tomorrow at work. It's been one busy weekend for me, which is definitely acceptable. Friday night my friends Katie & Eric invited me over for the dinner we'd been talking about for several months. Katie used to play in several of the same orchestras as I did, but we hadn't seen each other since the last Hänsel & Gretel performance in May. I brought my violin over and played the audition pieces for them, like I did with my family last weekend when my brother was in town. Katie, who's now pretty much a full-time violin teacher, gave me a bunch of good suggestions. And a bunch of CDs to listen to.

Saturday I did the usual thing with the running club. I may have made a new "friend" there since last weekend, but these things are always hard to judge. If not, I may just have a new "running buddy" instead, which is not exactly a bad thing. When I got home there was a message from [livejournal.com profile] gingy asking if she could pick me up for the ride to GettysDope II. I was surprised at how close it was and how well-behaved Matthew & Jimmy were. Thanks again, [livejournal.com profile] gingy! I had a great time meeting all the new people and seeing some I hadn't seen since New Year's! By the time I'd been dropped off back home, I was so tired from standing around and walking all day. I wanted to go out because it was such a nice night, but couldn't summon the drive. It was too late to check out any of Artscape, as well.

Today Katie & Eric invited me to come back to their place for a party they were throwing. Most of the people there were families and couples. I was the only single guy there, and only one of the women there wasn't pregnant. I stayed for a while, until I went down to Dad's to, well, eat again. Dad gave me a CD of the Berlioz Requiem that he'd accidentally ordered two of. Maybe if I'm really lucky, he'll order two of the CD of violin concertos I want.

Running buddies are a good thing. I was surprised that my running groups really weren't condusive to meeting men. It kind of bummed me out. Oh well.

How far do you typically run?

Women-only group? =P Our group is huge; so big that the list maintainer doesn't even know how many people are on it. He estimates that it's several hundred, but 20-30 show up any given weekend. He also boasts that there have been several couplings and engagements (including his own) over the years.
My "buddy" and I went about 5 miles total, but we figure we ran only about 1.5 of it. It was close to 80 degrees, and not even 10:00 AM.
