Jun. 13th, 2005 01:54 pmWeekend notes:
-Friday, went to Baltimore Symphony. I probably should have driven instead of walking the 6 blocks, because it was half a million degrees out and I can't imagine I was a good seat neighbor. The people I was sitting next to were friendly enough, regardless. There was a 12-year-old pianist playing Beethoven's Concerto #1, Prokofiev's rarely-performed Seventh Symphony, and Russian Easter Overture to open the program. The guest conductor filling in for Temirkanov did well enough, but the orchestra seemed to have a hard time reading his cues or something, because there was a place during the overture that they just weren't together.
-I keep going to the restaurant supply store in Highlandtown on random Saturdays, looking for a few things in particular, but they're always out of stock. Like, the last four times I've been there. So after this Saturday, I decided "screw it", I'll go someplace else.
-I spent much of the rest of the day inside. I contemplated going to Honfest, but I figured parking would be a nightmare, and it was a million degrees out. After talking to my brother and dad on the phone, I decided tonight was the night to see Star Wars at the Senator Theatre. It was pretty cool, but not without plot holes and the same bad acting as all the other movies. Next up is a trip to Annapolis to see it in digital with my friend there, who's a major Star Wars geek.
-Sunday I went with my friends Deb, Jared, Medha, Alice, and a few new people, to Butler's Orchard in Gaithersburg to pick strawberries. It was a million and a half degrees out, but I got a pound or so. Now I just have to find something to make with them. Besides smoothies, as I don't own a blender. We went to one guy's apartment nearby, then to this Lebanese restaurant where nearly everyone got overcharged because they screwed up the orders. I made it back to Dad's by dinnertime for our Sunday night steaks.
-I hate when I'm already sweating by 2:00 in the afternoon.
