Yeah, I guess I owe everyone an update, considering I don't have time to go back and write snarky/witty responses to people's entries from the weekend. And what a weekend it was, at least for a few people!

My brother & his wife were coming to stay with Dad, and they were riding with two of their college friends who had rented a car. They got in late Thursday night and went to bed, planning on seeing some other college friends Friday. Only problem was, they woke up the next morning to find that the car had been stolen, right off the street in front of my Dad's house. He doesn't live in a bad town, by any means, and someone would've had to come pretty deep into the residential area to get to his house. And, why these people chose to steal the rental car instead of my Dad's new truck is beyond me.

The best part? Phil's friend lost a briefcase, containing a thesis and some fairly rare books on Judaism borrowed from a Rabbi. At one point, he got a call from someone saying they'd found the briefcase, apparently in the parking lot of the local synagogue. Of course, the conscientious thieves couldn't have been enough so to return the guy's wallet, or to not steal a rental car in the first place.

Not much else that eventful took place, fortunately. Mom drove down Saturday morning to stay with me, and she brought a CD of Hänsel & Gretel for me to prepare for rehearsals. She also brought her Chemex coffeepot, because she wanted to do some "experimention" to see if we could tell the difference between it, pressed coffee, and auto-drip coffee. Needless to say, by Sunday brunch, Dad thought we were all nuts. Of course, he's probably known that for years.

Oh, two other things: Purim may become my new favorite holiday, but we'll have to see what happens before I explain that.

Also, one of my co-workers ate some kind of fish sandwich for lunch, and the whole place still reeks like fish oil.

Let's just say I wasn't even liquored up.

Then it's even better.

Wait a sec...I thought the whole point of Purim was to get liquored up. Something about not telling the difference between cursed is Haman and blessed be Mordecai?

Am I mixing up holidays?
;o)

No, you're not mixing up anything. Although the opportunity was there, I was driving, and I just don't drink that much anymore. Must be my old age.

Eh, unless you flew off the handle in a murderous, drunken rage and slew the guy down the hall from you, you're probably OK. Remember, we don't believe in hell!

Holy cow, Steph said what I was thinking.

About the car, maybe there's less chance of a rental having a 1337 alarm? Whereas the new truck surely would.

The car was a Dodge Intrepid, but I don't know anything more about whether it had an alarm, or was even found yet.

That is odd that they didn't want bad karma for stealing the books but weren't worried about the auto.

So tell us about the girl, already! ;)

I talked to my friend last night; he said the police called him to tell him they'd recovered the car, but no word yet on his CD player, coat, wallet, etc. I'm sure they're long gone. Also, he didn't know how much he owed to the rental company. He should find out today (Tuesday). Which means I should know today how much I owe him.
