One of my co-workers: You got a FedEx package. I left it on your chair.

It was the Alton Brown plunger set that I'd just ordered Monday morning! That was pretty fast, although they were only shipping it from someplace in Virginia.

I have been buying a lot of random kitchen stuff recently, like the Emsa Perfect Beaker a few weeks ago, the probe thermometer, pots and pans, and last Saturday morning I went to the local restaurant supply store looking for half-sheet pans. There must be a support group for this sort of thing.

No lesson this week, because of my crazy rehearsal schedule and this Saturday's concert. It's a bit of a pity, but I haven't done enough practicing for it anyway.

Ice cream today in the conference room!

We have 'em, but I don't seem to use them much. And they're not dishwasher safe, so I have to wash them by hand, which annoys me.

That might have annoyed me, too, back when I owned a dishwasher.

Like I said, I don't know if I need them, but I'm beginning to think I need a support group.

I'll be your support group. With the probe thermometer and the salt containment unit and the frying-pan-steaks.

Ohhh this sounds so double entendreish.

If you're going to become a kitchen gadget geek, it helps if you do some actual cooking. How are things going on that front?

James had me record two Good Eats shows for him last week: one on making braciole and the other on frying fish & chips. That Alton Brown guy is quite a character. But I think we discussed that. I'm not sure I could look at that doodle of Brown's head every time I needed to measure something.

At least you're not into Rachael Ray. She annoys the hell out of me.

I'm trying to force myself to do more cooking. The problem is I'm so busy doing stuff after work that I tend to take the easy way out too many times.

Tonight at 10:00 is the leek episode, followed by the French onion soup one, which I'd highly recommend you record. But that's me. And no, no worries on the Rachael Ray front. Although, there was the FHM spread. (http://www.durzy.com/news/rachelray10252003.htm)

I can't figure out why, but Alton bugs the hell of me.
