$630 for car work this morning. And there wasn't even anything broken! This was all scheduled and recommended maintenance, at a highly-rated dealership. Oh, and they washed it. Something tells me I may have just paid $600 for a car wash.

Wow, what sort of car do you have?

I've had all the recommended maintenance done for our 2000 Accord, which now has 85K miles on it. I think it's gone over $100 just once, and that wasn't by much. But I have my work done at a local greasemonkey shop that I found by local word-of-mouth, rather than at a highly-rated dealership.

It's a Toyota pickup. It was all the scheduled stuff for 45,000 miles, plus things like flushing the brake and steering system and servicing the 4x4 system that just added up. My mom gave me the same suggestion about finding a local greasemonkey, but it's a little late now.
