If [info]Rue can have his Monday Morning Post, I think I can have my Monday Morning Weekend Update. After all, I never get time to post on Sundays anyway.

Friday night was really cool: Dayna and I went to the BSO to see Hilary Hahn perform. She was playing Prokofiev's first violin concerto; also on the program was Copland's "Fanfare", Joan Tower's companion "Fanfare" (the full names are too long to type out..) and Brahms Symphony #3, all conducted by Marin Alsop. I posted some about it over here too. I'm not sure what I think about Alsop as a conductor, but according to the review, she could be a leading contender for Yuri Temirkanov's job when his contract expires in a few years. Hahn's playing was flawless, but I'm still not much of a fan of the Prokofiev concerti.

Saturday I took a trip up to Best Buy to look at VCRs, DVRs, LCDs, and any other TLAs I could think of. Then I called my brother from the store to get his opinion. I'm glad I didn't spring for the TiVo, since I didn't realize how much the subscription to the service is. I also went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and scored a Calphalon stockpot/Dutch oven that matches my other Calphalon stuff for only $25! I mostly just killed time the rest of the night watching the South Park movie and trying to understand the world of BitTorrenting.

Yesterday my friend Deb was hosting "Blintzkrieg", a blintz-making party. Unfortunately I got the time screwed up and ended up being an hour late. I had a good time despite, had some good blintzes, and played a spirited round of Chez Geek for about two hours. Then Dayna came over so we could go for take-out Thai food. She wanted to listen to me practice, but even though I was having a bad night, she was really impressed. That means I probably am too hard on myself, but I don't think that's such a bad thing.
