After making an inauspicious start by dropping the first two games of the season, my fantasy team has now won four in a row. Although, most of them have been squeakers; this past week I beat Brad's team 107.34-105.78. I'd have done better if I had a better defense, but both of my starting defenses were on a bye last weekend, so I didn't have much choice but to draft whatever was available.

The Steelers game on Sunday was weird... or at least, WJZ's coverage of it. I didn't get home from the concert until 4:30-5:00, already well into the third quarter. I was half paying attention, half washing dishes when I heard them say something about checking into the Jets-Dolphins game, but they never went back to the Steelers. I guess since the Steelers game was a blow-out and Miami was in the midst of a fourth-quarter come-back, they figured more people would want to see that.

I know, that's why people buy the NFL Sunday Ticket or DirecTV or whatever people buy nowadays.

Decimal scoring? INTERESTING -- I've never seen that before!

Good job on the four-in-a-row. Having dropped the first three, I've won the last three in a row and am looking at potential playoff spot if I can keep up a slightly-above-.500 average. Thank god Steve Smith's back.

It's under Yahoo! Fantasy Sports... There are half points for things like sacks and fumbles, and I'm not quite sure how yardage works. But yeah, fractional points are allowed. I guess it's to minimize the possibility of ties?

That makes it a lot more exact scoring for yardage - which is cool, but I do like having to root for someone to hit the magic number (i.e., getting over a 20-yard mark for a point, or getting over 100 yards for the bonus points, or being able to make fun of your opponent because his guy only got 99 yards and was thisclose to getting the bonus). That's a neat system, though.

Yahoo lets the commissioner choose the scoring method and some of the points options, so fractional points may not be the case in all leagues. For a few years I was in two different Yahoo FF leagues and one of them scored with whole numbers instead of decimals. It's a matter of preference. Although I think scoring out to hundredths of a point is a bit excessive. I've never seen a tie in our league, and this is my 4th or 5th year.

By the way, I'm 6-0 in Mike's league after this past week. I'm not that far ahead in total points, so when I lose a game I have to hope I stay far enough ahead of the teams behind me to keep on track for a top playoff seed. Donovan McNabb has been my best performer so far: even when his team loses, he still scores 25+ points for me. And Grossman is his backup. Thank God I didn't decide to start him this weekend!
