So, not only did I win the office football pool for last weekend (12/14 correct picks), but my fantasy football team won its second game in a row, evening the record to 2-2. The team was also the second-highest point scorer of the week, behind only Phil, somehow. He doesn't even have Peyton Manning this year! (Which makes me wonder how he did last year.)

I finally made it to 1-3 this week -- thank God Bulger finally came through with some points. Stupid fantasy football. Grumble grumble.

I was off to a slow start this season, with so many injuries. The only problem now is choosing between Brady and Pennington for QB. Pennington may have a bad shoulder, but he's been pretty consistent the last few weeks.

My problems are twofold: lack of Steve Smith (thank god he's finally back) and zero production from running backs (Dillon/Jamal Lewis both have stunk up the joint, and Tiki's had a horrible year).

I don't remember if I made the playoffs last year or just missed them. If I did get in I don't think I finished higher than 5th place. This year, however, I'm 4-0 to open the season. I had a slim lead last night before the Monday night game, and if Brian Mitchell had played my opponent would have had a chance to win. But Mitchell was out so Donovan McNabb, my QB, had to run for two TDs and pass for two more. 40 fantasy points later, I win in a romp. So far, this is my best start ever.

Mike, you should start Brady each and every game. He's a three-time Super Bowl winner, a two-time SB MVP, and he's a first-ballot Hall of Famer in the prime of his career. Pennington is a decent QB with a bum shoulder and a shaky team. One hit and he could be done for the year. Brady's your guy.

Thanks. I'm going to assume this advice is based on brotherly altruism and not trying to sabotage my team. ;) From what I hear, yeah, Brady's a good QB, but doesn't have many options as far as receivers go.

I'm not trying to sabotage you. Brady may not have too many receivers, but I'd still rather have him trying to throw to the guys he has than Pennington and the Jets' receivers.

The other way you can handle this situation is look for good matchups. I don't know the teams' schedules, but if the Jets are playing the Texans and the Pats are facing the Ravens, you might want to play Pennington because the Ravens have a much better defense. But if you want to avoid overthinking and save yourself time, just play Brady every week. Look at my team: I've got McNabb and Rex Grossman. I could play either one, but I'll stick with McNabb because he's got a consistently better record as a QB than Grossman, and I know McNabb can run the ball as well as throw it. I can leave McNabb in there and figure out who to play at WR every week.
