On the way into work today, I saw a DeLorean DMC-12 at a repair shop. I didn't think there were too many in existence today*, let alone one in Severna Park, but according to the Wikipedia, there are still about 6,000 around today. When I first saw Back to the Future (Wow, 21 years ago, now...) I used to think they were the coolest cars. Of course, I also liked Datsuns, for some reason.

*- Although, now I'm remembering a claim from a friend back in college: That there was someone in Pittsburgh, maybe even associated with the university, that owned a DeLorean, even outfitted to look like the time machine in the movies.

Huh, I've never seen one. The doors were just cool :P

My dad had a silver Datsun that looked similar, hee. He said it was the worst piece of crap he'd ever bought.

I think Mom and Dad had some kind of old Datsun sedan, back in the early 80s. I'll bet my brother will be along any time now to fill me in on what model, year, color it was, and what he was wearing then.

*giggle*

Dad is *so* against Datsun since then that when Reed and I bought an Infinity, which is basically a fancy Nissan, we never lived that down.

OK, I'm late with this comment, sorry.

It was a silver or gray Datsun 310 2-door hatchback that we owned from 1979-86. It would have looked like a poor man's DeLorean if there was any resemblance at all. We drove that car until it wouldn't run any more. I still remember when we brought it home from the dealership -- all the kids in the neighborhood came over to check it out.

BTW, after I read this post last week, I went to Wikipedia and read all of their DeLorean entries, wasting about half an hour of my workday. What a timesuck.

Matthew said the other day that "it would be so cool to have one of those old cars like they used in Back to the Future.' "

I naturally thought he meant and old Chevy Bel Air or a Studebaker...

"Yeah, a DeLorean."

Didn't that guy have a lotus or something?

OH MY GOD HE LOVES A TRANS AM.

Every single time we see one, he tells me how cool it looks.

No, Glen had a DeLorean that blared the Miami Vice theme, and he told Julia not to yak in it.

Right. I defer to your younger and thus more agile brain.
