One of my co-workers somehow got a blood blister under his thumbnail. So he came into the office today, and hand-spun a small (~3/32") drill bit into the nail to release the blister. No alcohol, no red-hot sterilization of the bit, just a little peroxide.

Also, Splenda tastes like ass.

You don't like Splenda? I love it. It doesn't tase like any of the other artificial sweeteners. It's really good to make Kool-Aid with, it tastes just like regular sugar Kool-Aid. And you can bake with it too.

I find Splenda does, indeed, have an aftertaste. Usually I use Sweet & Low/Sugar Twin - not Equal - in my coffee. I have a box of Splenda for baking, and have used it in my coffee when I've run out of the other stuff. Does not taste good. I can also taste it when I bake with it.

Well, I've decided I don't like the way it tastes in coffee. Never tried Kool-Aid.

I had a Splenda cheesecake once. Definitely not something I want to experience again.

Why is everyone talking about Splenda? The blood blister self-treatment story was disgusting. How did you hear about this? Were you assisting in the procedure? And where did he do it? At his desk? In the breakroom? No matter what the details are, it's gross. And I'm not too squeamish about bodily fluids.

I don't mind Splenda, and I think it tastes OK in coffee. But I've heard the full tale of the Splenda cake, and it sounded terrible.

OW.

And Splenda tastes like ass in everything. Throw it away.

It's OK in Yoplait Source yogurt.

But then, aspartame doesn't bother me in terms of taste/aftertaste unless it's in coffee.

I see S&L in the U.S. doesn't have sodium cyclamate. It does up here.

Most artificial sweeteners give me a headache, so maybe I'm just hypersensitive.

It's just that I like my coffee quite sweet. If I were to use sugar, I'd use about three teaspoons, and that times five or so cups every morning is not good for my weight... So two packets of whatever per cup does the trick. And I drink diet pop and Crystal Light.

You will have a very well-preserved corpse, I'm sure. ;)

Well, he SHOWED me the aftermath. And I guess he did it in his office area (which has a lot of tools). He came up to my area because one of the other guys near me has a bottle of peroxide, for some reason.

My only problem with the drill-bit is that the dude didn't sterilize it first.

I must have mutant tastebuds because Splenda tastes fine to me--I toss a little bit onto my morning bran cereal.

three teaspoons does not equal "quite sweet" it equals "kinda sweet" or "vaguely sweet"...

...at least on the OpalCat Scale Of Syrupy Sweet Coffee. :) :) :)

(I also think that the proper texture and appearance for iced tea is "crunchy and looks like a snow globe")
