Radio-Show Callers are Dumb

Heard this little gem on the Ron Smith show on WBAL coming home from work yesterday. Smith is a local host who lets people talk about pretty much whatever they want.

Caller: "I've got a solution that should fix all of this country's problems."
This should be good...
Caller: "Remember that tax refund we all got? That $300 was nice, but it didn't really do much to spur the economy. What the government should do is give every one in America a million dollars. Not just all the taxpayers, but everyone. We'll have an economic boom like we've never seen, people's morale will be better--"
Smith: "A million dollars?"
Caller: "Right, the government can borrow $270 million, and give everyone in the country a million dollars."
Smith: "Give all 270 million people in America a million dollars?"
Caller: "Right. That would be way better than the $300 we got before."
Smith: "Have you done the math here? When you add it all up, to give everybody a million dollars would cost way more than $270 million. You'd only be able to give 270 people a million dollars, or everybody one dollar."
Caller:
Smith: "Thank you. WBAL?"

The next caller was laughing his ass off. "Did he go to school in Baltimore City?"

I am not a product of Baltimore City schools, though my high school bordered on city lines.

Thank God.

I kind of miss WBAL sometimes.
