I took my brother's advice and signed up for a Flickr account. I figure it'll be a good place to off-load the Israel pictures from the Imagestation account, and I can post any pics I take while I'm in Korea.

I went to both An Die Musik and Barnes & Noble last night trying to find a recording of the Shostakovich 10th. The former didn't have any, but B&N had about four. I opted for the Philly/Ormandy double release with Symphony #4, even though I may never listen to the other piece. Maybe now I should think about getting a MP3 player for the trip, so I can enjoy #10 over and over on the plane ride.

I bought a recording of Shostakovich's Tenth Symphony back in 1992 because it also had "Festive Overture" on it, and I was playing that at district or regional orchestra. I've only listened to the 10th a few times, but maybe I'll bust it out again now that you're playing it.

You could always get an MP3 player for your trip and then sell it on eBay when you get back. If you get one, I'd suggest you get at least 4-6 GB of storage, and you might want to think about getting a HD-based player if you have a lot of music to take with you. Something like a 4 GB iPod Nano will give you a few days' worth of music, enough to get you to Korea and back.

Is that the DePriest/Helsinki recording? That's supposed to be a good one, but the B&N didn't have it.

Maybe you & I can go MP3 player shopping this weekend.
