Weekend (what else?)
Sep. 19th, 2005 11:23 amContinuing my long streak of not posting on weekends...
Friday night a whole bunch of people came to visit my upstairs neighbors. This group included at least three small children. At around 7:00, what I can only describe as sounding like a basketball game started, and despite being on their back deck, it was still more noise than I felt like dealing with all night. I resolved to go out, thinking, "anywhere is better than here".
So I walked for about two miles, past the harbor to Fells Point, and enjoyed a huge and tasty oyster po' boy sandwich at the Oyster Festival. Also, listened to the crappy cover band. The only problem was having to walk all the way back because it was still pretty warm out. I stopped off at Midtown as well for a few drinks, but the crowd was sparse as usual.
Saturday morning's running club was OK. I was a little worn out from the night before (the walking, not the drinking). I got invited to a bar crawl that afternoon, but the idea of more drinking, this time with a bunch of Young Republicans, didn't really appeal to me. Instead I went up to Hampdenfest (not to be confused with Honfest). I'm so taking Mom to that neighborhood the next time she comes; she'd love all the antique and artsy stuff. Saturday evening I was going to go out (1/2-way to St. Pat's drink specials), but halfway down the street I got a call from someone I wasn't expecting, and had to hurry home because the phone battery was dying again. Then I popped into the chat room and heard from N. for the first time in about a week and a half. I was just too worn out after all the walking to go out anymore.
Not much to report for Sunday, besides more staying in and actually getting some practicing in. I exchanged a symphony ticket for the October concert and a DVD for a video at the B&O Museum (for Dad). I went over to Dad's for dinner, where Becki gave me a MRE from one of her co-workers. I have no idea why.
