Cool, I won the office football pool for this, the first week of the season. As is the office tradition, the winner brings in some kind of breakfast for that week. I want to start the year off right and maybe make something rather than just buying two dozen bagels. Any suggestions?

You're into baking -- how about muffins? Get a few muffin trays and make two dozen blueberry or corn muffins. Biscuits are also not too hard to make, but you'll have to jazz them up with cheese or something else to make them as exciting by themselves as muffins or bagels. And you might need more than 2 dozen of them, since they're not that filling. Mmm, now you've got me craving some biscuits.

If you go to foodtv.com and search for Rachael Ray's asiago and pepper scones, you can use that super-easy receipe to mock up scones of your own. They come out pretty tasty, if a little American-style ("wet") and are cheap and quick.

Sorry, but you lost me at "Rachael Ray". And besides, this is an office that tends to be unadventurous when it comes to breakfast foods.

Thanks, though.

Scones are adventurous? Wow.

With Asiago cheese and pepper, maybe. However, I think there are some good plain recipes in "I'm Just Here For More Food", which I can check when I get home.

Ah, I meant to imply with the "mock up" phraseology that you could use the recipe to make whatever kind of scones you wanted. But if you're anti-Ray, so much for that.

The cheese and pepper scones are not usual, for sure. Damn good with gravy, though.
