Back at Work =(
Jan. 3rd, 2005 08:46 amI was getting used to 2-day work weeks, so I'm not happy to be back for a full week. Also, I have a full set of two rehearsals this week, so I guess I'm really back to the routine. The next concert is in Columbia at the end of next week, and I'll be sending out a reminder e-mail to a bunch of people.
So, the weekend. Happy New Year to anyone who's reading and hasn't had it said to them yet. On New Year's Eve Dayna and I went down to the Inner Harbor celebration with two of her friends. There were some musical acts and such, and a lot of people, but not very much to do. We walked uptown to a place called the City Cafe first, then downtown and went to places like the ESPN Zone. Unfortunately, Barnes & Nobles wasn't open, so just found a place by the edge of the water and sat down around 10:30. The air wasn't all that cold, but our butts were freezing from sitting on the cold brick and granite. Midnight came, we watched fireworks for fifteen minutes or so, then walked back home. And drank some hot tea to warm up.
Saturday there wasn't much going on until
opalcat's going-away party that afternoon. Dayna & I took the Metro all the way out to Falls Church rather than try to drive out there. Also, we were planning on stopping by to see my dad after the party, who lives near the other end of the Metro. We had a great time hanging out with everyone and meeting the new people, giving Opal a proper send-off. Thanks to
anitavacation for giving us a ride back and the walking directions from the Metro station. I'd post the pictures, but they're on my home machine at the moment.
