There isn't a whole lot to report from the holiday. I worked full days until Wednesday, then Dad came to pick me up for the drive back to PA. It made more sense than us driving in two cars and I wouldn't need my car while I was there. We left Baltimore around 6:30, and stopped for some dinner in Hagerstown around 8:30. Under normal circumstances, that drive should only take a little more than an hour. We ate at this place called Richardson's, kind of a non-chain version of an "Old Country Buffet", with not-much-better food. We switched from I-70 to I-68 in northern Maryland to avoid the PA traffic, but still got home around 11:00.

Thursday morning I slept in. Mom was still making a turkey, though a small one since we were going over to her uncle's place later in the day. They had ordered turkey and stuffing from the local grocery store, so her turkey was more the "spare". We watched part of the Food Network Thanksgiving Special, but I haven't yet converted her completely to the ways of Alton Brown and "Good Eats".

Friday we were driving to Monroeville (near Pittsburgh) to see a different set of relatives, including a few I hadn't seen in many years. I brought back some of the dessert, this pecan and caramel chocolate cake that must have weighed five pounds. It was good to see everybody on both days, but as always, it reminds one why you don't see your relatives very often.

Saturday Dad & I drove back in the morning, getting back into town around 1:30. I took him to the one Thai place I'd gone to a few weeks ago, but the food was not nearly as hot this time around. I didn't have much going on the rest of the day until the evening, when I had a ticket to see the BSO. The concertmaster was the soloist, playing Bruch's "Scottish Fantasy", which was amazing. The rest, some selections from Khatchaturian ballets, were not as exciting. I even got to meet & greet the concertmaster and he signed my program! It was cool, but I wish I'd said something better than just acting like a fawning fan.

Yesterday I had a rehearsal with the Nutcracker orchestra, then went over to Dad's. I hadn't seen my stepmother all week, plus Dad was grilling steaks! I stuck around until the end of the Ravens game, then came home. This week is going to be another full week of rehearsals, and I'm going to hear the BSO play Shore's "Lord of the Rings" Symphony, which should be cool. I'm an idiot.. That concert is next week. Looks like I will get a night home this week.
