Friday night I went to a "Young Adult" service at Beth Am shul here in town. Those very faithful readers of my journal may remember that almost exactly a year ago, at the same type of event and same shul, I met Dayna. So, this time, I was a little nervous that I'd run into her again, as she's a member there. We didn't split on bad terms or anything, but it has been several months since we've spoken. Well, nothing of that sort happened, because she wasn't there. There was someone I went out with about 2 years ago, but we managed to avoid each other. I did meet some nice people, including a childhood friend of
fuzzy_gizmo's whom I'll probably be seeing again.
Saturday I was intending to see a production of the Rocky Horror musical at a theater just up the street from me. I even called my brother to ask his and my sister-in-law's advice on what to wear. As Liz put it, she "prides herself on having seen the DC production seven times", so I figured they'd know. I got there about 45 minutes before curtain only to be informed that it was sold out for that night and next Saturday, so I'm going on Friday. I was reminded of the line from Dogma, where the bus ticket agent tells Bartleby and Loki, "I suggest you not underestimate the staggering drawing power of the Garden State." Not wanting to make it a complete waste of an nice evening, I walked the 2 miles down to The Sound Garden in Fell's Point to look at used DVDs. Sure enough, I got the two-disc version of Dogma and the director's cut of 12 Monkeys, which I'd been wanting for a while.
That's about the most exciting thing that happened all weekend, unless you also want to count listening to an extremely rare CD in the Peabody library.
