Senior Year Meme

1. Who was your best friend?
Aniela. That's an easy one. She was a year behind me and was the closest to a best friend I'd had all through high school. The trouble was, I was too judgmental at time and could never tell her how much she meant to me. By the time I could, too much time had passed and we'd grown apart. We completely lost touch around my sophomore year of college and I have no idea what became of her.

2. What sports did you play?
What are these "sports" of which you refer?

3. What kind of car did you drive?
I never had my own car, so I drove Mom's '86 Corolla on the rare occasions she'd let me take it to school. I forget what she did...

4. It's Friday night, where were you at?
Most likely at home, although I would occasionally go to football games to hang with some friends.

5. Were you a party animal?
Hardly.

6. Were you in the "In Crowd"?
Again, hardly. Although, there always seemed to be several different "in crowds".

7. Ever skip school?
Nope. There were rumors of "senior skip days", but I don't recall actually taking part.

8. Ever smoke?
No. I was as pure as the driven snow.

9. Were you a nerd?
You need to ask? I hung out with band people and didn't even play in the band, captained the quiz bowl team, was on the yearbook staff, and hung out with RPGers. Need I go on?

10. Did you get suspended/expelled?
Nope.

11. Can you sing the Alma Mater?
Maybe my brother can help me out, but I don't think the school had one. Or if it did, it was hardly ever played. I think one band director tried to revive it, but it was towards the end of my time there.

12. Who was your favorite teacher?
Another easy one: Mr. Pompanella, the AP American/European History and Psychology teacher. One of the most insightful and inspiring teachers I've known, who ran his class like a college lecture.

13. Favorite class?
Chorus, and strangely enough, calculus.

14. What was your school's full name?
Westmont Hilltop High School.

15. School mascot?
A "Hilltopper", which at the time bore a striking resemblance to the Notre Dame mascot.

16. Did you go to Prom?
No, though not for lack of trying. Don't really regret it.

17. If you could go back and do it over, would you?
This sounds like an Adam Sandler or David Spade movie. Sure, there were lots of mistakes and dumb things, but I like to think that these are the things that make us into who we are, and that they all happen for a reason.
On second thought, maybe I should go back!

18. What do you remember most about graduation?
Being really nervous because I was playing a solo at Baccalaureate. I don't remember too much else from the main ceremony.

19. Favorite memory of your Senior Year?
Just one? Being the title role in the musical, "Fiddler on the Roof", or maybe the three music festivals I went to that year.

20. Were you ever posted up on the senior wall?
Maybe if I knew what that was.

21. Did you have a job your senior year?
No.

22. Who did you date?
No one, though again, not for lack of effort.

23. Where did you go most often for lunch?
The cafeteria? We weren't allowed to leave, and the school was off in the woods and miles away from any businesses.

24. Have you gained weight since then?
Honestly, I have no idea. Probably very little, since some of my clothes still fit.

25. What did you do after graduation?
I don't really remember anything exact. Probably putzed around at home for part of the summer, and then spent the rest in MD with Dad.

The words to the Alma Mater were in the student handbook, but I don't know what the music was. The fight song was the Notre Dame fight song music, though I don't think we had our own words. The mascot was a direct ripoff of the ND mascot too, though I think he faced the other way on the logo on the gym floor (the reverse of the way the ND mascot looks). I'm sure that was in response to a possible lawsuit.

Now I'll have to post my own responses in my blog.
